have heard or read. Relate one that
shows how hard it was to be a missionary or a Christian.

Recall
lessons in 2 Cor 5:16-6:2. Thank
God for His work of reconciliation, that you were brought back to God, and for
the urgent ministry of reconciliation that God has given to you.

Missions prayer list. In the Holy
Spirit, continue steadfastly in prayer and persevere in it with thanksgiving

Each
of these inner qualities and weapons are introduced with the word “en”

Purity
– moral uprightness and singleness of purpose
Understanding
– knowledge of Christian faith and sensitivity to God’s will
Patience
– endurance of insult or injury without anger or retaliation
Kindness/mercy
– not judgmental but kind or merciful (cf Jude 22,23)
Holy
Spirit – a) by the
gifts or graces of the Holy Spirit
b) by the fruit of the Holy Spirit
Sincere/genuine
love – love that is not hypocritical
Word
of truth or truthful speech – the gospel, word, message, talk, conversation
that is truthful
Power
of God – (1 Cor 2:1-5; Eph 6:10)

Reflect
on the inward qualities of God’s servants, and ask the Lord to shape you
with these qualities and equip you with spiritual weapons.
Summary
and challenge
When a
person is in trouble, he or she calls the police by dialling 911 (US) or 999
(SIN).
God’s
servants must be vigilant and answer distress calls from people in need of God.
The experience of God’s servants will be comprehensive when they obey.
In doing so, they will
a)
face some of the afflictions arising from outward circumstances,
b)
acquire necessary inward qualities and spiritual equipment,
c)
learn from some of the paradoxical experiences of being in God’s service.
