AN OFFICIAL COMES TO JESUS - JOHN 4:43-54

Describe a time when, out of sheer desperation, you refused to take no for an answer.

  1. Why did people welcome Jesus when he arrived in Galilee?

  1. Was Jesus pleased with their response to him?

  1. What crisis did the royal official face?

  1. When Jesus said, ‘Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders you will never believe,’ do you think he meant to include the royal official?

  1. Would you say that the official ignores this remark of Jesus? How would you describe his response to Jesus’ comment?

  1. When Jesus told the official his son would live, he ‘took Jesus at his word’. How much faith do you think he had at this point?

  1. When the official learned that the fever had left his son, he and his household ‘believed’. How does this faith differ from his earlier response when Jesus told him that his son would live?

  1. Based on this episode, how would you define the kind of faith or attitude that can receive blessing from Jesus?

Is there a need in your own life at the present time (whether big or small) that you want to share with the group for prayer? What kind of attitude do you think the Lord wants you to have as you bring this need to him?
